Introduction: My personal journey to Spine
Sometimes life writes stories that are hard to believe. Stories that pull us out of our comfort zone and force us to see the world with new eyes.
For me, such a story began with my father, a man who worked tirelessly for his family even during the GDR era. He wanted to keep the gap between East and West, the differences that were noticeable to us children, as small as possible. Everything he could make possible, he made possible — and beyond.
But every effort has its price. If you demand so much from your body, you have to give it breaks. My father didn't allow himself these breaks. The years of overwork took their toll: little by little, the consequences became apparent in the form of physical ailments. And then came the diagnosis that changed everything: gout — a condition that was not only painful, but was considered, by conventional medicine at the time, very difficult to treat.
It broke my heart to see my father suffering like that. This man, who had given so much for us, should now "pay" for the rest of his life with pain? That couldn't be right.
But that wasn't all: when I asked my father what the doctors were doing to find the cause of the condition, he simply replied: "They're not even looking for that."
What? They're not looking for the cause?
I couldn't believe it. Every illness has a cause. And surely that cause needs to be addressed — whether through genetic analysis, food intolerances, looking at external circumstances, or simply searching for imbalances in the body. But this perspective didn't seem to resonate with the doctors, or with anyone around me. Gout was just gout. Something to accept, with nothing more to say about it.
But I couldn't accept that. Why did people accept such statements? Why didn't they question things, why didn't they keep researching?
Looking for a different perspective
My mind couldn't accept this way of thinking. So I started looking for a solution. First I asked within my close family and friends. Then I searched the internet for months. And finally I came across an institution in Thailand called "Bios Logos," which offered alternative healing approaches for various conditions. Their philosophy immediately appealed to me: they looked for causes, treated the whole person, and worked with methods meant to support the body naturally.
I contacted the practitioners there, and a few weeks later I booked a flight for my father and me. We wanted to see what was possible.
The trip to Thailand: A new beginning
Our journey took us to Pattaya, to "Bios Logos." The very first conversation was an eye-opener. They explained to my father what the numerous medications he took every day were actually doing to his body — and how they could cause more harm than good over the long term. Step by step, they showed us how these substances can throw the body's balance out of sync. It felt like we suddenly had a whole new perspective on medicine and healing.
In the days that followed, my father began an intensive program. It was exhausting, demanding — and yet transformative. And despite the exhaustion, he beamed. For the first time in years, I saw him smile, not just with his face, but with his whole being.
My personal experience
After 14 days, the change was noticeable to both of us. His energy and his smile had returned, and the discomfort that had accompanied him for so long had noticeably eased. For me, it felt like witnessing a small transformation — though I know this is a personal experience, not a general claim about the effectiveness of any particular method.
What I learned
This experience changed not only how I saw my father, but also how I saw the entire world of medicine and healing. It showed me that people often look for more than conventional medicine alone can offer — and that alternative approaches consider the whole person, as a system of body, soul, and mind.
But above all, it gave me hope: hope that each of us can find our own way back to balance between these three components. We just have to be willing to look for it — even if that means leaving familiar paths.
The result: Spine — your bridge between conventional medicine, holistic healing methods, and consciousness
My father's story isn't just a personal story — it's the origin of the Spine App, your life companion for health and personal development. Spine was built from exactly this conviction: that people shouldn't have to choose between conventional medicine and alternative paths, but can find both — conventional, holistic, or both together.
It takes courage, hope, and the willingness to look beyond the familiar and take unusual paths. And often, these new paths are rewarded not only with deeper wellbeing, but with a strong community of like-minded people.
Thank you for being here.
